[2009.03.24] recharge ride

this is my recharge ride. i do this whenever i feel the need to remind myself why i own a motorcycle. this is a ride i do often, mostly because the start of the ride, where mt. hamilton road begins, is only a few blocks from where i live. originally posted on pashnit.com: Mt.   • a motorcyclist sees these signs all over... it's nice sometimes to see the sign with such a great view behind it.

  • the higher up the hill you get, the more guardrails that you see, most of which are new (within the past few years). with the curves here, you can't blame them, can you?

  • the sun coming through the trees as i rounded every other corner was awesome.
  • i stopped to get another (slightly closer) picture of the snow atop mount hamilton, and as i did, this hawk came out to play, circling for almost five minutes on the updrafts.

  • in the background, that's mount hamilton covered in a thin layer of snow. snow is not something we see very often in the bay area.
  • once i got to my usual turn around point, there was a cop blocking the rest of the road up to the top of mt. hamilton. i stopped to talk to him to see what was up, and aparently, the entirety the land past joseph grant county park is privately owned, and whenever it snows, they close the road off for safety. he was also quick to inform me that anyone who tried to run or sneak past the roadblock would get a $680 ticket.
  • the rusting old barn in the background has been there as long as i can remember... i wonder if it's abandoned?
