best of the non-moto

for me... picking the "best" really hard. i'm the type of photographer to see something and shoot it in one shot... okay, maybe two. this means that about 85% of the photos that come off the camera are ones that i'm proud of... so, the process of picking the best is not so easy. what's here so far is what i think are some of my best shots, ordered chronologically. as of 05/01/09 i've got almost 15k photos archived up... and this gallery only encompasses photos taken up to November 2006. i'm still sorting through the rest.

canonnight

• yellow rose in the backyard, just after the sprinklers went off.
• white gloves, green glowstick, two sets of tracer photons (one solid, one dashed), and an amazing lighting effect.
• kayaks for rent, Block Island, RI
• sunset somewhere at sea, on the way to St.Thomas
• Christian Science Plaza, Boston, MA
• reflection in a purple ball, atop a white pedestal. it's there for no reason. (except for me to take really fun photos)
• mushrooms of some kind, growing on a tree near my sister's house, in Sterling, MA
• sunset (or almost after) hitting the mini-blinds of an old apartment.
• the Prudential Tower, in Boston, MA.

the antenna / rod atop the tower has different "color modes" to let people know the weather.
• wierd neon lights above steps going down into the Back Bay Transit station from Copley Place, Boston, MA.

• san jose is blessed / cursed with orange streetlights, as depicted here.

i've heard that it's because of the james lick observatory, to cut down on glare on the telescopes... or something.
• taken @ 1am, on one of those full-moon nights where everything glows.
• looking back towards the San Jose hills, at Joseph Grant County Park.
• unknown flower bush outside my cousin's house in Pleasanton, CA
• i took quite a few of the same shot here to get the damn bee to stop moving.
• photo taken at the salt processing plant or somesuch in fremont, ca.

a significant amount of post-processing was needed on these photos, as i found out that night that my camera sensor had quite a few dead pixels. the camera body was sent in to get the sensor replaced a few days later.
• another pic from the salt flats, this one of a power tower in the middle of all the salt.
• this image was one of a few taken on a wild night of throwing my incredibly expensive camera around for the flickr:cameratoss group.
